About the Show
The fun starts on Saturday, November 22, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 (cash or check) at the door. Visit ZenprovComedy.com for show details and reservations. Long-time troupe member Chris Redish takes the director’s chair to explore novel explanations for everyday inventions and pursuits—and how they might change in the future. From “so that’s how they invented the bra!” to completely made-up origin stories about who really settled Sedona, AZ, to forecasting far-flung future events like “ChatGPT clones your ideal mate,” the troupe will play with space and time, cause and effect—all based on audience suggestions.
“We’re excited to welcome new troupe members Nick Shank and Ryan Rice to the Zenprov Comedy lineup,” said Derek Dujardin, the troupe’s director. “Nick is a hilarious actor who makes big, bold, creative choices. He trained at The Second City in Chicago before moving to Sedona last year. Ryan Rice is an incredible comedic talent with natural timing, expressive physicality, and wonderfully original characters.”
If you’ve never been to one of their live performances before, Zenprov Comedy is similar to the popular improvised TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? The troupe performs a mix of fast-paced, improvised scenes created in the moment from audience suggestions, as well as Chicago-style long-form improv. Unlike sketch or stand-up comedy, nothing is scripted or prepared ahead of time—so it’s never the same show twice. Now in its 17th year, Zenprov Comedy continues to delight audiences with its mix of humor, intelligence, and Sedona-inspired absurdity. “Zenprov is the funniest improv troupe in Northern Arizona,” said Patrick Schweiss, Executive Director of the Sedona International Film Festival. “People were laughing so hard their cheeks were hurting.”
